Mistérios de Lisboa conquers the Silver Shell at San Sebastián
The ambitious cinematographic production by Raúl Ruiz, MYSTERIES OF LISBON, produced by Paulo Branco, in a Clap Filmes and RTP co-production, has been distinguished with the Silver Shell – Best Director, at the 58th Edition of San Sebastián International Film Festival.
This award in one of the most prestigious film festivals brings a new light to the Portuguese cinematographic production. The ambitious pic has received the applause of critics, being considered as a masterpiece along its international film festival’s journey.
Two of the leading actors of this XIX
century tale Maria João Bastos and Adriano Luz will receive the honours of the prize tonight, in representation of the director Raúl Ruiz, who won’t be able to attend the ceremony.
MYSTERIES OF LISBON was presented on the past Sunday, 19th, at the Spanish Festival. Raúl Ruiz, actors and crew conquered the audience with the adaptation of the Portuguese novel written by Camilo Castelo Branco.
After its world premier at the TIFF, Raúl Ruiz’s film will be at the New York Film Festival, on October 10th. An epic of intrigue and revenge, the film will be presented at the 33rd Mostra – São Paulo International Film Festival, on the 23rd and at the same day, MYSTERIES OF LISBON will also be one of the films revealed at the London Film Festival.
Torino Film Festival (27th October) and Vienna International Film Festival (30th October) will also receive the Portuguese film in its Official Selection.
